Is it ever too late?

Happy #truthThursday! and welcome to the month of August.

Sometimes we give up on our efforts because it appears as though it is too late and there is nothing we can do to make up for the lost time. I wondered if we can ever truly say that it is too late to achieve what we want to achieve. Here's what my friend's within had to say.

The answer to this question is a decision that you make and not a pronouncement by anybody. The moment you give up on getting or achieving something is the exact moment it becomes too late/impossible for you to do it.  Not a moment before.

The saying "odds stacked against ..." is a human construct of fear that is often applied and used as an excuse for letting life go unfulfilled, or worse, preventing or attempting to prevent someone from living a fulfilled life. Nick Vujicic has no arms or legs and is a wildly successful motivational speaker and evangelist. The odds are not stacked against him, at least in his perception of himself and his life. If he felt otherwise and held on to that feeling, he most likely would not be who and what he is today. Others may have the opinion that the odds are stacked against him, but that doesn't matter as long as that is not his view of himself. And it isn't- which is why he is able to motivate others with arms and legs, people who we'd traditionally describe as 'lucky' when compared to Nick.

So, the real question is: What is your view of yourself? Do you have one excuse or the other? Or are you afraid of failure, even though said failure does not yet exist? Do you think everyone else, excluding you, is lucky? Or that someone else, and not you, is the reason for where you are right now? Think about these things and be honest with yourself.

YOU DECIDE WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT DO.

You decide when it is too late

NO ONE ELSE CAN OR SHOULD DO IT FOR YOU.

If you find yourself saying 'it's too late' to do or be something or accepting when someone else has told you it is too late, you need to ask yourself how badly you want it. We all know at least one person that has gotten to where he or she is on a very non-traditional timeline and is killing it. My mother always tells me how she started her law degree a month late, but that was also the semester in which she got the best grades.

IT'S ONLY TOO LATE IF YOU SAY IT'S TOO LATE.

Have a great weekend all.

Love,

O.F.P.
