A Letter Looking Forward

Dear Friends,

I wrote this to myself, but I think a lot of it universally applies, so I am sharing it with you today. I hope it speaks to you in the right way for you.

You have come a long way and I know that along the way you woke up to some realities that made you doubt your path and your past decisions. You think you were wrong or blind or ignorant. But I have to tell you something today. You were none of those things. At every point in your life, you have done the best that you can, and acted based on the level of truth that was revealed to you at that time.

So, as you move forward, I would love for you to appreciate your life in its totality, not beginning when you think you woke up or became more enlightened. Along your journey, you have certainly touched lives, and just because you see and know more now, does not invalidate your past. I think that is the first thing that I would like to point out to you. Appreciate your past self, and the decisions she made on the journey she took to this point.

The next thing I would like to say, is that you no longer have to be afraid of disappointing anyone, least of all, God. You now see yourself in a different light. One that shows the side of who you are, someone who will touch lives because she was bold and courageous, not because she was afraid of offending people. You know, as well as everyone who has experienced some time on this earth, that there is nothing you do, that will go without complaint or comment from people. And that is great. Everybody is entitled to their opinions; you do not have to listen to them. Furthermore, no one has a bird’s eye view of your life in the same way that God does, most are blind to your purpose. So they have no authority to give you any approvals, even if they wanted to.

Now, you have come to a point where it is about showing up, listening, and doing that which has been placed on your heart to do. Nobody who went before you ever felt ready. Even Jesus asked God at some point to take the cup of suffering away from him. But you know what? Embracing God’s will for your life wholeheartedly is the best decision you can ever make and live by. What does that look like?

 It looks like this.

Being in a state of constant expectation and gratitude. You expect that all you need will come to you, and you are grateful for it. In this way, nothing will faze you. Things might be difficult to grapple with. You might long for things that do not quite suit your current timeline. You might want things to be easier or expect things to go a certain way. But always remember how things have always turned out for your good. Remember every disappointment has been the beginning of the journey to immense happiness and gratitude. Remember this, and know that all that comes to you, you deserve, and all that you need, you will get, then be grateful for it.

Hold your head up high because your position in the scheme of things demands it. This is the time to stop playing down who you are, and be bold in your pursuit of positive change, where you can bring it. It is not about making a noise. It is not about being boastful. It is simply about being yourself and knowing who that self is.

When you find yourself feeling, ‘if only I had …’ know that this is fear speaking in another voice. You have it all, and even upon that which you already have, more will be added to you. Just do it. Go for it and let nothing hold you back. You can do every single thing you intend to do, and that is without exception.

So just do it.

Remember that you must show up to every moment of your life. That is the only thing I ask of you.

Show up.

Show up for yourself. Show up and let those who have been assigned to assist you on this journey, have something to work with. And understand that you must listen. It is so important that you listen. Do not let anybody take away from you, the silent times you have to reinforce the truths that will guide your heart and mind to that which you are.

You are a star. Shine bright. Let your light brighten the world around you.

Be bold.

Be courageous.

Show up

Listen and,

Just do it.

Love,

OFP
