What Do You Want?

Happy #TruthThursday Guys!

Here's another one from my friends within. Today they are talking about the process of discerning what you really want from what you think you really want. Hopefully, you find it as useful as I did.

In answering these questions, the first is to be completely honest with yourself. Don't choose something because you think that is what God wants you to choose. Does any being know the mind of God? Instead, calmly listen to yourself and write down all that comes to your mind- frivolous and substantial. Do not suppress anything for fear or prudence sake. Just be brutally honest with yourself.

The reason for this is this: we want you to learn how to be unashamed of yourself as you admit your desires to yourself. We want you to go through the full process of identifying all your desires-those that are truly yours and the imposters. For there will be many competing desires vying for your attention and not all of them are true or even meant for you. Part of this exercise is being able to identify which is which and that is why you must ask God for the ability to discern.

Many people believe, falsely, that to follow God's lead means to abandon all sense of self. This is quite untrue. For why would God create all your faculties, your mind, body, soul and spirit, only to have you abandon these things in an alleged pursuit of Him?

What it really is, and you must understand this fundamental truth, is that you in your truest self, are already aligned and at one with God. That is why it is said, God wants for you, what you want for yourself. There is no difference between the two. The reason that it appears as though there is a difference, is that we mistake the desires borne out of external influences of all forms-family, friends, media, strangers etc, as our own desires. This is the easier way to go because in your world when you deviate from the norm you are declared 'crazy', 'insane', 'eccentric', and so on and so forth. This makes you cower in fear and thus your true self-retreats to the safety of silence. There are times where it is bold enough to demand what it wants, but these are few and far between.

So this is why we say you must let all out. There is no judgement. This is an exercise between you and yourself.

Each desire is to be examined thus:

- Do I really want this?
- Why do I really want this?
- How/When did I start wanting this?
- Could it be I want this because it is what I feel is expected of me?
- Do I really have these same expectations of myself?
- Will having this bring me peace?

And so you go on to deeply question yourself. It is important to remember that you are free. Just think, what is best for me? Open your eyes and see.

We are watching,

Your Friends Within
